Requirements
Students taking distance education courses can go to the Alberta or Keysville campus or to one of our extension center locations to use the computer labs. You will need to contact the center or campus nearest you for lab times. Locations and Phone Numbers
It is a student's responsibility to access their course area in Blackboard and complete assignments according to the instructor's course schedule. Student's should access Blackboard regularly and communicate with his or her instructors on a regular basis.
Students planning to use their own personal computers need to make sure the following requirements are met: (If you encounter problems with your personal computer, you will need to find an alternate means to complete your online work.)

Students taking an Internet class should have the following skills and be able to:
- do basic word processing (saving files)
- send and receive e-mail (including attachments)
- download and install necessary utilities, updates, and plug-ins
- perform basic Internet searches (LEARN THE NET)
- run virus scans on your computer

- Reliable Internet Service Provider; Wireless PCs/laptops and ISP providers using a satellite connection can cause problems during testing within Blackboard. Wireless and satellite connections can experience interruptions.

Software Requirements: The links provided below will take you away from the SVCC website.
- Standard word processing software is needed. (Google Docs could be accessed and utilized by all VCCS students. If taking ITE 115, Microsoft Office is required.) The college uses Microsoft Office 2007. If you are using an older version of Microsoft Office, such as Office 2003, you can download a compatibility pack which will allow you to view Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files created in Office 2007. Users of the Microsoft Office XP and 2003 programs Word, Excel, or PowerPoint—please install all High-Priority updates from Microsoft Update before downloading the Compatibility Pack.

If you do not have Microsoft Office, you may need to download viewers in
order to view class information. Click below to download the necessary viewer:

- Current Virus Scanning Software: Symantic Antivirus is available from the SVCC tab within Blackboard for free.
Individual instructors will specify if additional software is required
for their course, which may include printers, speakers, headsets, etc.
