Virginia Center for Onsite Wastewater Training
Schedule of Classes |Demonstration Site |Manufactures
Southside Virginia Community College is the home of the Virginia Center for Onsite Wastewater Training (VCOWT). We offer training for individuals interested in any aspect of individual and decentralized onsite wastewater training. The long-term vision of training center is to provide training in all aspects of residential and small community water resource needs including water supply development, wastewater dispersal and reuse, rainwater reuse, and storm water management.
Today, students interested in becoming an Authorized Onsite Soil Evaluator (AOSE) and working either with the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) or in the private sector will find the “basic training modules” will prepare them for the AOSE exam. Initial course offerings were oriented toward site evaluators and system designers. The training center now offers a variety of environmental courses related to water, wastewater, soil, geology, and hydrology. We are working with other partners including VDH, VOWRA, and the Consortium of Institutes, and others to significantly expand course offerings. Classes in the installation, operation and maintenance, and engineering of onsite systems are either ready or will be offered shortly.
All courses are offered for college credit and are recognized by the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations as meeting their continuing professional education requirements.
