SVCC Drops Baseball Opener
 The Southside Virginia Community College baseball team dropped its season opener 15-4 to Craven CC in a non-conference tilt last week.
The local team struck first in the top of the first inning when Michael Justice singled and Malcom Miller and Jason Roberts followed with singles.
Craven struck for four runs in the bottom of the first inning and added two in the second and four in the fourth for a 10-1 lead.
SVCC added a run in the fifth inning when Miller singled and scored on a RBI single by Roberts.
SVCC added two more runs in the seventh inning when Justice doubled and scored on a 2-run homer by Miller.
Justice and Roberts led SVCC with three hits apiece in the game while Kevin House and Miller added two.
Josh Collins and Robert Yates added one hit apiece.
Yates took the loss on the mound for SVCC.
