New Biology Instructor - Kristin Beekwilder

Kristen M. Beekwilder is a new instructor of Biology for Southside Virginia Community College in Alberta.  A native of McKenney, Virginia, she is a proud graduate of Dinwiddie County Public Schools.  She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and Master’s degree from Virginia Tech. 

After graduation, she returned to Dinwiddie County to raise her family.  She operated the Research and Development Greenhouses for Philip Morris for three years and began teaching part time for SVCC in 2002. 

“I am excited to be a part of such a great organization,” she said about her new teaching position.  She is shown with SVCC President John J. Cavan’s artwork depicting one of her schools.
