Chorus schedules spring concert
The Southside Virginia Community College chorus will present their Spring concert on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the South Hill Presbyterian Church.
The theme of the concert An Americana Songbook will feature music that has become a part of American heritage and culture. Selections include folk songs, spirituals, and patriotic music. The program also includes the music of some of America’s greatest composers, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and Rogers and Hammerstein. Irving Berlin’s Alexander’s Ragtime Band, Puttin’ on the Ritz, Blue Skies, and the beloved God Bless America are sure to entertain and raise the spirits. Gershwin’s Someone to Watch Over Me expressers everyone’s longing for love and romance. A final selection, John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes is certain to stir up the feelings of patriotism in any American’s heart. Join the Chorus for this entertaining evening of American music.
