Dixon wins Leadership award

A second year RN student at SVCC’s John H. Daniel Campus has been honored with The Florence Daniel Riepe Kalbacker Leadership and Community Service Award.

Ms. Dixon Florence Daniel Riepe Kalbacker has been a long time and loyal friend to SVCC. She has served on the College Local Board, the Foundation Board and has been involved in many community clubs and organizations. Morgan Dixon, the recipient, has embodied the ideals and human spirit for advancing the community as exemplified by Florence Daniel Riepe Kalbacker.

Morgan is a graduate of Prince Edward County High School and is currently employed at SVCC as a Lab Assistant for network services. Morgan also is a peer tutor at SVCC’s Comprehensive Learning Center. After Morgan completes her associate’s degree in nursing at SVCC, she wants to pursue a nursing bachelor’s degree at ODU, then, hopefully one day become a ER nurse.

Southside Virginia Community College is dedicated to the belief that all citizens should be given an opportunity to acquire an educational foundation that develops and extends their skills and knowledge. The college’s goal is to provide diverse instructional programs ranging from developmental studies to associate degree curricula in academic, technical / vocational, lifelong education, and workforce development.
