The Fall Festival this year is going to be on Dec. 3rd from 10-2 on the Daniel campus. This year's event includes a chili cook-off, activities for the kids such as, Chaz Heiber with cartooning, a face painter, and a cotton candy machine. The "Arise Praise Band" will perform live on-stage also.
The chili cook-off is a new addition to the line-up this year. Contact Matt Dunn at 434-949-2020 if you have a chili that you would like to compete with, show off or just share with the community. The chili dishes entered into the contest will be judged in several different categories. There will also be a public contest, with emphasis on most popular chili, and a set of judges will have their own set of critiques. The prizes include an iPod, and a free 3 credit course from Southside Virginia Community College, which can be gifted to another person. For those who do not like chili, other lunch items will be provided.
All of the events are free, except for the gifts purchased from the vendors who come from all around the community to present and sell their wares. Some of the vendors this year include, but are not limited to: Premier Designs from Dawn M. Santello, Cecile Amos' Oils, Pastels & Watercolors, Carolyn Palmtree's AVON products, Ms. Garnet Shook's Garnet and Other Gems. Kim Newcomb & Melissa Colbert will be there with You Name It customized products. Diane Canning & Brenda Lehmann with Eboni's Closet + D&B Distinctive Creations are going to be there, along with Irene Wilkinson will be "Tastefully Simple" with food mixes, there will be pocketbooks with covers from Sue Parks' Niche. Kathy Coffee will have embroidered items with Coffee's Custom Embroidery. Dawn Smith will be a new addition to the purse vendors with BoDee bags, handcrafted purses and totes, and Tameka Boswell will be also be present at the event with her collection of Miche Bags.
