Phi Beta Lambda Conference

Five members of Southside Virginia Community College’s business organization, Phi Beta Lambda, and PBL Advisor, Crystal Jones, recently attended the PBL State Leadership Conference held in Richmond, Virginia.  The students attended leadership seminars and competed against students from two- and four-year colleges in the state.  Darcell Terry, Matt Tregoning, and Terry Willis competed as a team in the Hospitality Management competition and placed second.  Karen Meyers placed second in Business Communications.  These students are eligible to compete at the national competition that will be held in Orlando, Florida, in June.

Southside’s  chapter was also awarded first place for contributing the largest amount to the PBL state project (Project ASK).  Project ASK raises funds to support pediatric cancer research.  In addition, Matt Tregoning who currently serves as president of the SVCC chapter was elected as state secretary-treasurer and will serve through March of 2012.
