Top 10 Community College Students Honored as First Virginia Team

The “top 10” community college students in Virginia were honored April 20 at a luncheon representing the best and brightest students throughout Virginia’s Community Colleges, as ranked by USA Today, The Phi Theta Kappa honor society, and the American Association of Community Colleges. The ten students honored as the “First Virginia Team” are joined by 44 other top-ranked two-year college students from across Virginia, who become the “All-Virginia Academic Team.”

Four of the students also receive special recognition courtesy of the Coca-Cola Foundation--- three “silver scholars” receive $1,250 scholarships each and the top-ranked Virginia community college student, Triszha Espina, receives $2,000 as Virginia’s New Century Scholar.  Cassidy Stinson of Southside Virginia Community College was named a silver scholar.

The “top 10” included two students from SVCC and they are,
