SVCC Service Awards
Dr. John D. Sykes, Jr. (Pictured Left), Provost of the Christanna Campus of Southside Virginia Community College, was recognized for 40 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. An awards ceremony was held on the Christanna Campus to recognize Dr. Sykes and other dedicated employees. Dr. Sykes resides in Lawrenceville.
Peter Hunt (Pictured Right), Vice President of Finance and Administration, was honored by Southside Virginia Community College and the Commonwealth of Virginia with a 30 year service award at a luncheon held on the Christanna Campus recently. Hunt resides in South Hill.
Diane Daniel (Left), Business Manager for Southside Virginia Community College, and Dr. Terry Whisnant (Right), Professor of Behavioral and Social Science, were each recognized for 35 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. An awards ceremony was held on the Christanna Campus to recognize these and other dedicated employees. Daniel resides in Alberta and Dr. Whisnant lives in Chesterfield.
Nancy Turner, Secretary to the President at Southside Virginia Community College, was recognized for 25 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. An awards ceremony was held on the Christanna Campus to recognize many dedicated employees. Turner resides in Kenbridge.
Southside Virginia Community College employees were recognized recently for 15 years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. They are (Left to Right) Matt Dunn, Transfer Counselor for the Daniel Campus, of Keysville, Thelma Atkins-Riley, Head of Practical Nursing Program, Christanna Campus, of Emporia and Dr. Al Roberts, Daniel Campus Provost, of Emporia. An awards ceremony was held on the Christanna Campus to recognize these and other dedicated employees.
Southside Virginia Community College recently recognized employees for ten years of service to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Those receiving certificates include (Left to Right) Steve Capon, Buildings and Grounds, of Keysville, Dr. Gunay Smith, Professor of Chemical and Biological Sciences, of South Hill, Rosa Townsend, AV Supervisor, of Victoria, Mary Jane Elkins, Dean of Institutional Advancement, of South Hill, Sharon Freeman, Assistant Professor of English, of Lawrenceville, Marysue Lewis, IT Specialist, of Baskerville, and Freddie Reekes, Recruiter, of Lawrenceville. Others receiving ten year awards include Tim Jenkins and Art Kass.
Southside Virginia Community College Employees who received their Five Year Service Awards from the Commonwealth of Virginia were recognized during Orientation Luncheon held at the college recently.
