Summer Youth Classes at LCAKC

Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center is offering area youth several summer camps covering topics such as Art, Lego Robotics, Spanish Language, Digital Photography, and Gaming. See details below.

graphicClasses will have a maximum enrollment of 15 students (with the exception of Art) and a minimum enrollment of 10 students in order to be offered.

All summer classes will be offered on a first come/first served basis and students and parents will need to complete a non-credit enrollment form in order to enroll in the classes.

Payment for all summer camps due by Friday, June 3.

Class Times: Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Lego Robotics (Ages 8-10)

  • $75

  • June 20-24

  • Using Lego Mindstorm Robotic Technology, students will increase their creativity by using problem solving skills and designing, building, and programming Lego Mindstorm Robots.

Intro. To Painting (Ages 8-12)

  • $100 ($75 Tuition + $25 Supplies Fee for Instructor)

  • June 27-July 1

  • Paint your own oil painting by learning techniques from a renowned artist! Students will take home a finished painting at the end of the week.

  • Teacher: Karolyn Hawthorne

Intro. To Painting (Ages 13-16)

  • Students will take home finished drawings and supplies at the end of the week.

Spanish Salsa (Ages 8-12)

  • July 25-July 29

  • Do you want to learn some Spanish? Come and join us to learn some of the language, culture and arts and crafts from Mexico. Learn by playing games, singing and dancing. Come and have fun while you learn more about Mexico!

Digital Camera Capers (Ages 10-14)

  • $75

  • August 1 – August 5

  • Like to take photos? Want to know how to make them look better? Learn photography techniques and Photoshop applications that will allow you to enhance your photography skills. Students will bring in personal digital photos for class projects.

  • Required Supplies: Digital Camera, Flash Drive for Photos.

  • Teacher: Chrystal Harris

Computer Game Creation (Ages 8-12)

  • $75

  • August 8 - August 12

  • Students will use the Game Maker's Apprentice software to design and create their own game. The game will be a Platform game created so that it can be played on
    any Windows computer.
