Southside Virginia Community College tours Italy
Visit the Belpaese (Beautiful Country) this spring with Southside Virginia Community College. The International tour will include three of Italy’s most famous cities, Florence, Assisi and Rome over an 11 day adventure and feature the best of each city. The group leaves from Raleigh/Durham Airport March 1, 2012, and returns March 11, 2012.
 In Florence the group will be entertained and delighted with visits to the Duomo and Giotto Bell Tower, Signoria Square and the Ponte Vecchio Bridge and a visit to the Academia to see many sculpture masterpieces, including the magnificent David by Michelangelo. There will be time to explore the city on your own as on peruses the quaint shops, restaurants and art galleries.
The next stop will be a one day independent tour of the city of the charming medieval town of Assisi. Assisi is famous because it the birthplace of St Francis, Italian Catholic Friar and preacher. The group will visit the St. Francis Basilica and other key points of interest in the city.
 From Assisi, the group travels to the capital of the Roman Empire—Rome. The group will have six days to experience the rich history of this great city with all of it triumphs and downfalls. As part of the package, the group will have lots of free time to explore the city, and two half day tours of the Vatican and Michelangelo’s breathtaking Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Square and St Peter’s Basilica and a tour of the historic ancient Rome- the Roman Forum, the triumphal Arch of Constantine, the Arch of Titus and the famous Roman Coliseum which is the largest amphitheater built in the Roman Empire.
The cost for this all inclusive trip is $2,792.
