SVCC Offers Workshop For Effectiveness
Southside Virginia Community College’s Workforce Division recently hosted The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People workshop on campus in Alberta attended by 146 participants. Based on the Stephen R. Covey book, the event was presented by Dr. James C. Haug and Robin J. Daniels of Longwood University.

In an effort the help people change from the inside out, the event was geared toward professionals from area businesses who wanted to learn new strategies such as balancing priorities, improving communication, creative collaboration, balancing life and work and offering constructive feedback.
“I really enjoyed the workshop. It was very helpful and knowledgeable. The thing that I keep on remembering is “if an organization changes its culture then it loses its soul” said, Bryant Reese, LUTCF Insurance Agent Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance in South Hill.
Kimberly Roberts of Penmac Staffing Services in South Hill said the workshop showed her, “When we can no longer change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
SVCC’s Workforce Development Services aligns education and economic development to extend workforce courses, training and programs into the community. WDS works closely with business and industry in the Southside Virginia rural area to ensure that their training needs are met.
