This year's program also offered a global passport series for children so that they could expand their cultural knowledge and take an international journey. Students attended classes that were taught by instructors from Nigeria, Mexico, and Japan.
The Virginia Cooperative Extension Office and instructor Leonard Elam partnered with LCAKC-SVCC and offered several summer camps including "What's Bugging You", "Ready,Set, Move!", "Animal Science 101", "High Tech Treasure Hunt", "Life Skills & Leadership", and "Madd Scientists".
A highlight of the summer camp program was the Kids' Safety Day which included a series of mini workshops covering personal, fire, and water and wildlife safety. Instructors from the South Hill Police Department, South Hill Fire Department, Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Department, and the U.S. Corps of Engineers partnered with the center to make this event a success.
The summer camp program was well received by parents, students, and community leaders and it was a great way to encourage learning and creativity in children.
